Just as an off-shoot from the Zuluboy thread...

Are there any really excellent hip-hop writers in SA? because honestly, I'm struggling to find any. People like Therese Owen (The Star) who think that because they have interviewed Skwatta once or twice it qualifies them to write about hip-hop.

Simone Harris from HYPE is pretty good. And their new guy Lesego Moiloa. Any other suggestions?

Me, but I'm studying at the moment.

How's the pay at Hype, cos I might decide to take over Mizi's job.

Kwanele - A true head. He works for the Mail & gaurdian. I know this dude. A good journalist, not just hip hop writer.  He's also not writing about hip hop just to get paid. He knows hip hop & music in general. To me, the best by far. F what you heard. or rather F what you read.

Anyone rememeber khoi Selepe and Madala. they used to work for Y? Khi was on AG about 4 years ago.

Simone from hype. echo that as well.

actually used to buy Y-mag to read Simphiwe Mpye articles, they were never about Hip Hop though but were very goo, a reason why i ues to collect y-,ags in that rude boy era. Also for Kgafela oa Magogodi... this cat used to be interesting as well, probably still is..Madondo is is good as well found the whole madondo v dana issue to be interesting..as well as the articles he has written about Pac, eminem.

Eitaan prince was dope as well, used to contribute dope stuff to Y-mag that ended up on my wall . Plenty of Good SA hip hop writers.

Anyone who enjoys Madondo should buy Madondo's book. It's called Hot Type. It's a collection of his pieces including the Simphiwe Dana piece. brilliant book. highly recommended. plus, he's a cool dude as well.

Simphiwe mpye is also on point. It's a pity Blink mag is no more.

Kgafela can be a bit too deep at times. But his slam poetry is dope.

A good Hip Hop writer in what sense? sum1 who writes accurately about the culture :?:
sum1 who reports about watz goin' down in the hip hop(Scene)

Or an opinionated head with good writing skills and happens to get published(most of them are subjective)...  :x
