hook me up wit some titi pic ull be takin there
if there were any...
arb dates. arb times. who are they aiming at. wish i was still at varsity and on holiday.
Nice initiative nonetheless.
Sigh.
dodgy promoters.
I sat down with a few heads after some Corne & Twakkie dressed fool I had never seen before hosted the event.I went to this thing today after receiving an sms late last night....and no other word.
So I called some of the BIG DOGS to see who was on the bill , or who was the crew running things - because I thought it would likely either be the Faculty / Bootleg or Aevenger.
Nada.
When I asked some of them today I found out that MTN had not consulted HEADS to get the word out OR to find out what the best venue would be.
Even an email via the contact link on MTN's website yielded no info as to organizer / coordinator etc - they have yet to respond.
The Bboys who performed ( Handbrake turn) performed well , but were ( in my opinion) exploited.they performed 5 sets in 30 degress of sunshine when the guy in charge saw noone wanted to cooperate and perform.
While the competition prizes like cellphones were probably a nice incentive
,I think that MC's reputations were exploited and used to boost a poorly organized event.
My questions to MTN are as follows:
1. Why did you not approach DJ's / MC's and other HipHop promoters who are recognized / regulars?
2. Were any Hip Hop function specialists approached ( read : Bootleg . Aevenger , Faculty of HipHop) to advise what the best timeframes , location would be for such events?
3. Why was a recognizable face not used to stand as Host for the event? There are many suitable candidates who could have been approached.
4. How is it that HipHop Connected , on absolutley no budget an pull together an event many times better than yours with absolutley no budget at all?
Let's see them respond to that email I sent requesting info on who's coordinatimg the event.
PS - If you dont believe me - ask others who were there.
