yfm is a station whose concept was researched on the streets of soweto, alex.. etc..
whilst i´d appreciate a youth station in CT... i wouldn´ that it be YFM...

then tell me if you understand what they´re saying..

To add to that ... yfm..is a perfect example of finding a niche market and exploiting it to the fullest. but they target market is very very specific..ie
jhb township..multi-lingual youth...ONLY

nationally they will have to change they target market spend more time reseaching the youth un uMlazi,Gugulethu etc.

they have a good thing and they look to be keeping it that way

sa´s kwaito, house and hip hop scenes are dominated and promoted by the y familly so dont u think that the whole of sa deserves to get in tune to the number1 staion in jozzi

but how big is kwaito outside JHB?

i know in durban its not that big...there is a lot of house, dance and "hiphop" and r&b there but on the same point kwaito is very JHB..in terms of lingo and attitude etc..i dunno how big kwaito is outside JHB maybe you can explain why you think yfm should go national maybe you know some facts that i do not....speak

5fm is national but they play kak!

do they research what some kid in the flats might want to hear? We need to inter-relate, know more about each other. But if y goes national then they should not compromise, who ever wants to listen to it should be able to. Who ever does not want will not. Like I don´t listen to 5FM.

what we have to look at is WHERE THE STRENGTH OF YFM LIES...

and evaluate whether what works for them regionally can work for them nationally...

i personally doubt that Y has what it takes to be a crowd pleaser all over our beautiful country of ours...
