Afrikaans was developed by Malay slaves, later integrated into the coloured grouping. It was called "dirty dutch" and shit, as a means of communicating with other Malays as well as Hollanders etc. Mad interesting. Afrikaans took it on the Trek and created what we know today. That's why coloureds in the Cape speak differently, and why I laugh when cats say whites invented afrikaans. They invented the Dutch bit and deny the fact that their own language was created by brown people, coloureds, whatever suits you best and makes you feel comfortable. Is this the part where I tell you Afrikaners are not white or do you need to digest this part first?
