Brick , I agree with you in respect to your comments about;

maybe I need to be exposed to more Afrikaans rap

and sympathise with you because I know that it's very difficult to get hold of afrikaans hiphop outside of capetown.
I know for a fact that there's probably only ten (or less) dj's spinning the newschool afrikaans rap tunes.

So , yes most afrikaans rappers are to blame because the meterial is inaccessable.

I undertake to create a new user account or get someone to help me upload NEW SCHOOL AFRIKAANS HIP-HOP.
I will do my best to upload tracks as often as I can , but I will not upload without any artist's permission.
I will have to CREATE A NEW USER ACCOUNT BECAUSE FOR SOME REASON MY UPLOAD LIMIT HAS BEEN REACHED.

I hope that helps.

might be tricky,,, i think the whole server has reached its upload limit and milk ain't around to free up some space.

i'm lucky enough to have heard quite a bit of afrikaans hip hop and there is a lot that is dope. i only have limited understanding of the language but when stuff is explained to me, i love it.

what i really like is that a lot of it falls in to the category i like to call 'authentically south african'. music that reps the streets and the hoods with local references and slang.

i understand why a lot of people write it off for political reasons, but all i would say is that they are missing out.

is Afrikaans rap also then placed or categorized as Venec?

Don't get me wrong rapping in any other language besides english with some sort of American accent sort of sounds wierd at first listen coz the hip hop I grew up on was AMERICAN MUSIC..you dig? I can't stand Latino rap coz them f***ers speak strange and can't rap...Local hip hop also sounded strange upon first listen coz I have always and still belive Hip Hop is American shit for American people.

Afrikaans as a language does not sound pretty to the ears rapping in it is worse and yes its an exposure issue(lack thereof) I have a couple of tracks from jits, jaak that I have grown to love...but upon first listen it was only bout the beats

yeah,,, we need to break out of the brainwashing that Hip Hop only works in American.

Hip Hop is street music. It should be done in whatever language people speak on the streets of their hood.

I say this all the time,,, it took people in the UK many many years to get over this American brainwashing, but when they did, the industry took off.

@ brick.

Latino - MC's - hmm the only crew i liked was Tres Delinquentes with that "Delinquent habits" album.

The afrikaans MC's I have spoken to dont see their rapping as vernac...but it has that traditional southafrican element , yes.

Thing is , after buying all sorts of southafrican hiphop mixtapes I still wont venture too far into Xhosa or Zulu meterial..not because the MC's arent tight but simply because I cant understand what's being said.

You might have picked up that I listen to lyrics very carefully before I buy anything and its hard enough deciphering english speaking rapper's messages - let alone a different language.

Just wondering if that's important to you guys too.

Also look at H20 also for example when I listen to those cats they sound off beat..I like what they rap bout but it seems that the boom bap patten is just not made for Zulu raps...if you look at the ALL the dope venec tracks they all have unorthodox beats I'll list a few tracks go Listen for ytour self

1) Kakalaki
2) ALL Konfab's Sotho raps
3) Prokids fede fokol

just Listen to as many raps in Vence they don't have the cla**ic boom bap pattern...
