I knew this shit was gonna happen, ha hah ha

Bibey Mutombo, the embattled Orlando Pirates coach, needed a police vehicle to escort him out of the BidVest Stadium on Saturday.

Irate Pirates fans were in a mean mood after Bucs slipped to their second Premiership defeat on the trot against Wits.

For close to an hour after full time, throngs of the Ghost waited for the coach from the Democratic Republic of Congo to step out of the dressing-room, hurling insults and demanding that he be fired.

Mutombo said he was missing seven key players
However, quick thinking by the police, who brought their van inside the stadium to save Mutombo and his a**istant, Papi Khomane, averted what could have been a nasty incident.

Mutombo said he was missing seven key players through injury and strangely described the side he used at the BidVest Stadium as a "second team".

Among the absentees he lists Jabu Mahlangu. It's surprising that he counts Mahlangu as one of his key players as he's hardly played the fit-again midfielder this term because of the on-going feud between the two men.

"My regular players were not here and I gave others a chance. Unfortunately, they didn't do the job and I don't think I'm under any pressure right now," Mutombo said after the game. "We must be patient because we're going to win soon."

Pirates had enough chances to win the game comfortably, but were woeful in the last third of the field. Such missed opportunities just gave the fans more reason to blame Mutombo.

Bennet Chenene and Rudzani Ramudzuli had good chances in the opening period with only Wits goalkeeper Moeneeb Josephs to beat, but they were wasteful.

Then when Josephs was dispossessed outside his area, striker Paulus Masehe slipped when he was about to roll the ball into an open goal, while Jorry Merahe shot wildly from the same move.

Marawaan Bantam scored for Wits on 61 minutes after a neat set-up by Ashraf Hendricks following a corner that was not cleared by the shaky Pirates defence.

For Mutombo, this defeat is likely to see him vacate the seat tipped to be taken over by new team manager
