We've had loads of email and Facebook votes already, and with two weeks to go, there are already some clear leaders emerging. This is your top ten. The greatest. The ones that you will remember. There are many, many surprises; some albums you'd never expect to be on there did damn well. Some underground dons gained serious ground. And as for that number one?

(This show is extra-long. We were going to do two separate shows, but we thought, f*** it. 20/20 reappears in 2010. And we have a 100th episode coming up. Get ready.)

The following mix is not a 'best of' compilation. It is also not an exhaustive list. Rather, it is a mini-directory of the artists who have released reasonable pieces of work this year. What, you thought we'd stop after 100? Never that.

Now, onto more important matters. I would have called you a downright liar and laughed in your face if you'd told me that Strong Arm Steady - the dudes who used to roll with Xzibit - would not only have a project produced entirely by Madlib - the dude who rolled with J Dilla - but that it would be all kinds of awesome. In Search Of Stoney Jackson is the mutt's nuts, the dog's bollocks and, as Douglas Adams would no doubt have us put, the entire erogenous zones of every canine in the western hemisphere. Point? It f***in' rocks. And you should see the guestlist...

There's other joints too, including the first woman to win End Of The Weak. Justice is her name. She f***in' rocks too.

Her Girls Get Loud mix is out now, and you'll find the absolutely bonkers intro right here on 20/20. If you want to know what kind of DJ she is, Shortee mixes hip-hop, drum and ba**, dub and techno on a label named Heavy Artillery, and her crew with her partner and husband DJ Faust is named Urban a**ault. You get the idea: these are big beats.

Of course, there's a lot more than just pint-sized Angelino deck-wreckers on 20/20, as you've come to expect...

We can't believe we're writing this. Canibus is back.

After disastrous records like Mind Control, Hip-Hop For Sale and For Whom The Beat Tolls, no-one would have given 'Bis another chance. The apocalyptic rhymer had blown it, and things with Melatonin Magik (horrible title, horrible artwork) weren't looking good. But if you can believe it, 'Bis went back to basics. Redid his production list. Rewrote his rhymes. Got darker, deeper, harder, stronger. And despite all indications to the contrary, Melatonin Magik is f***ing insane.
