J has a point. Hip-hop 'steals' from so many different genres anyway that what initially appears to be overt biting may be more complex. Take Jay's use of the Doors on the Takeover - at first listen a straight production bite with no nod towards the integrity of the original song but Just Blaze (I think) actually takes the original track forward and reworks it slightly.

Maybe biting vs reusing hinges on the kind of respect given back to the originator in the track in question - see the lyric J quoted.
