From a performers side, the worst thing for a vocalist is having smoke machines all up in your face and choking your voice.

1. When theres about 10 dudes on stage (why for?)
2. when the performer is too drunk or high (ie: Counting crow dude who fell over 3 times)
3. when dudes tell women to come on stage for some sexual seduction (except for the time janet jackson did it).
4. When artists play the same set/music (Eish Khenzero sometimes, and 340ml's)

GOOD examples

3. and i recently saw a Jay-Z show on MTv for american gangsta- it was really good!

WHY? I paid R50 to see YOU perform , if I wanted to see if I could sing I would've stayed home.
I think you should let the crowd do it voluntarily that way you can se whether or not you're dong it.

Bad Shows

-When all the rappers try and rhyme at the same time.
-When the rappers forget their words... (da Brat @ the P Stuyvesant gig)..
-Ditto on the too drunk (wu tang .. countless times)
-when you're in the crowd and it starts raining...
-when the crowd control doesnt happen and a stampede occurs.. (UCT days Boom Shaka)
- too much crowd particepation (throw your hands in da air!!)

Good Shows

- audible
- Stage presence is felt
- Rappers do more that just mill about on stage (The Arsonists kill at this!!)
- mic juggles between crew (dope when dope right)
- the performer isnt sick... or starts show with... sorry Ive got the flu...

Worst show ever-

Launch of Groundworks CD in Rosebank... I and a friend were two of only 3 people that attended. Eventually Krookd grabs mic frm Snazz.. tells him he cant rhyme anymore.. Snazz's girl at the time happened to be the DJ too.. eish! Krook grbs the mic says 'f*** it Im gonna go home and get some pussy'... his embara**ed girlfriend blushes and ducks outta the room...

Best show...

Donnie. The gayest person Ive ever met in my life.. but conversely had the best vocals I ever heard on stage.

I've gotta sat Tumi and the volume put on a nice live set. Also MAx Normal TV from the videos my friends have of two weeks ago in Bloem, seems rather nice.

yeah that was quite bad. im not sure why they decided to do the performances on the stage... they could've done it on the court.

i saw them perform at oppikoppi back when it was at fountains.
on the mic with waddy was - who i thought at the time - was a young boy with a cute voice (it turned out to be his woman i think)

also think Sweat X, Kwani experience put on a good show and

Brother Ali (only cause when the sound didnt work,
he worked with what he had which was good lighting and a revved up crowd, got a dope Beatboxer on stage and blew the crowd away)!

Man, seen some cats with amazing live shows...Swollen Members, Kwe, Jean Grae, Pharoahe and his whole band were incredible. Common - best live show I have ever seen, full stop. Meth and Red, f***ing bananas. De La Soul, Blak Twang.

Thing is, cats like Tumi, Zubz etc are just as good. And yeah, the things we've mentioned like crowd interaction, mic placement, TIGHTNESS, stage presence...they all work to make a show brilliant.
