This very movie is what caused me to start this topic.
Im a christian. And to be honest i was left asking serious questions about all that i had known to be true my whole life.
I started asking if there were certain aspects of christianity that i believed because i "knew" withing my soul were true, or if i believed because i had been 'conditioned' to believe.
It is very intense stuff. And to be honest...i wish i hadnt watched it.
In a case like this, ignorance is true bliss, cos i really dont know what to believe anymore.
thats the beauty of the movie coz it makes you question ishh, u cant jus go along with life accepting what has been shoved down ur throat as the truth. wouldnt you like to uncondition ur conditioning my man.

It's easier to have faith in something out there (and omnipotent and omniscient), than it is to believe that you shape your own destiny and to take responsibility for some of the actions in your life.

Does Zeitgeist offer any alternatives to religion. It's all good and well to criticise religion, but i think the human mind (and soul) would instantly implode without anything to replace religion....
I put Religion, Opression and Weakness underground and when i looked down i felt myself begin to GROW.

I agree..

I think people have to believe in something in order to survive. Whether you believe in a particular religion, or believe religion is a farce. Its all beliefs that dictate how you feel and act in life. It defines how you cope and present yourself in life. Beliefs could be a coping mechanism?

Do you think its possible to go through life without beliefs? People exchange beliefs, all the time, but no one realy stops believing. Beliefs seem to be a coping mechanism?

The worst of it all, is that all we know in life is what we've been told. There are very few things we know for certain. I think that uncertainty fuels your beliefs.

I'm not trying to put down anyone's faith, or religion, what I'm trying to do is get to
the bottom of what we are dealing with in the world today. If whatever we believe
is not true, then we had better find out and get to the bottom line, because we are
all on this planet together, and if we are part of something that isn't true, it would
behoove us to find out about it now.

There has never been a religious movement, throughout the world, that didn't have
a little politics involved in it. There has never been a political movement that wasn't
a little bit religious. As a matter of fact, at one time in the ancient world, government
was religion. And religion was government. Today, in our modern world
we are not really aware of that.

Another point you have to remember is that when you get married, you don't go before
God for your marriage. You go before the State and you get a license, before you
can talk to God about marriage. And, if your marriage doesn't work out, you don't
go to God and talk to him about it, you go to the courts, because that's where the
real power is contained.

Let's take some of the major religions and find out what is really going on.
Even motion pictures reflect an occult story, they are telling this story. For
example, the ancient magical priests of the Celtics had magic wands. And, the
magic wands were used to dupe people or to work their magic on them. Magic
wands were always made out of holly wood. Consequently, these secret sects still use
Hollywood to manipulate our thinking and to tell us stories. There is a tremendous
amount of symbolism in our motion pictures today.

Christianity is, in fact, another expression of a far more ancient religious philosophy
that has all of the earmarks of being one more retelling of the story.
That's why the Bible is referred to as the Greatest Story Ever Told.
I see nothing wrong with the teachings of Christianity.
In fact, I myself adhere and believe the teachings to be a very fine and fundamental
concept, concerning the way to lead one's life. But you must understand that
it is a story that has been retold and retold and retold.

As a matter of fact, the Bible is not called the greatest collection of facts ever a**embled.
what I'm saying, the Bible was written as a very beautiful story if you understand that
that's all it was, a story.
Now, there's some good history in the Bible. I am not saying that the Bible is
not the word of God. I just don't believe that it is the only Divine book written in the world.

Everyone borrows from everyone else, and that's true of religion.
The only problem is understanding who had the original concept. All of this began in Egypt.
With Egypt we are talking about Africa, and in Africa we are talking about black people.
Even if you look at the Sphinx next to the Great Pyramid, It's a black womans face...
