actually i have STUDIED art! i can paint(acrylics, oil pastel, water based paints), i can do sculptures, and i can also do graffitti.
anyways, an album artwork has DEFINED ARTISTIC OUTLINES!
Its like doing a POSTER or a BILLBOARD! abstactness in these cases are a NEGATIVE! not a PLUS!
Now if ur gonna do a piece for a ART GALLERY,theres more freedom for abstractness. ie. if its not a STILL LIFE or LANDSCAPE exhibition!
Theres a time and place for abstractness!
Its not for CD COVERS!
@ Rob, the comic book cover is a great idea!
But a perfect example of how to execute it is the Outkast "ATLiens" cover!
Theres a RESEMBLANCE in the animated images to ANDRE and BIGBOI(even the superpowers are kind of mirror reflections of their personalities).
Now , on ur cover, U ROCKIN A THICK CHAIN N SUM ICE! lol. DO U SEE THE CONTRADICTION HERE? or u jus gonna say "f*** u CASH" hahahahha
U know im right! jus that all these other dudes scared to tell u!that cover is a BAD LOOK!
@Child - i have a very in depth understanding of art! and i know what TYPE of ART works in what TYPE OF SITUATION!
ie. if u a rapper. i dont think anyone will take u seriously if u got a lot of pink flowers and rainbows in ur cover art. rather keep it simple and introduce the ARTIST(musician),not the ARTIST(designer).
Thats why P units are so tight! The focus is on the ARTISTS and the type of music! simple yet powerful!
Now u come with all this wide array of EFFECTS and paintshop tricks that only another paintshop pro will appreciate!lol
