Yeah, T-Pain, Lil' Wayne and others have abused the autotone sound. I give props to
Roger Troutman and Peter Frampton for autotone though. I missed how West Coast
DJs sampled Funk hits from Zapp, Parliament, and the Commadors. We need that shit
back, not this Southern Crunk garbage. The Southern stuff was ok but the wrong
type of people became famous.

Roger didn't use AutoTune. He used what is called a "Talk-Box", which is a tube inserted in the mouth.The results are more or less the same,but technically, there's a difference between Autotune ( a plugin ), Talk-Box (a guitar effect) and a vocoder ( an instrument).

Nonetheless R.I.P. to the Zapp man.
