Seven of the best scratch DJs in Africa prepare for high intensity 6 minute battles. Mixing, scratching, juggling and using everything in their skillset to amaze the audience and win over the discerning judges.

The winner not only takes home the 2009 trophy, but a brand new RANE TTM56s mixer, adidas gear a set of Aerial 7 headphones and also becomes MTV Africa (MTV Base) Scratch DJ for 2009. On top of all this, the new SA champ gets to represent South Africa in the DMC World Final in the UK.

This DJ battle is complimented by a line-up of the finest Hip Hop engineers in the business as well as the hottest B-Boys, legendary graffiti artists and car show. Get there early to a**ure your place for witnessing African music history in the making.

man, this is a DOPE initiative, i thought id see DJ Clinical over there, guess he didnt enter, saw him once on an episode of Shizniz, absolutely killing it, none of that itty bitty, il turn a record, stop it and call it scratching technique they normally have guys doing over there, dude was actually going hard at it.....wish i could see this one...nice poster too

oh hol up, i just looked at the judges list and there is a DJ "Klinikal" over there, is that the same as DJ Clinical, dude thats a DJ by day and an actual doctor by night? lol, cos if it is, i like it that hes climbed the ranks like that, hes dope

No wonder the host dude had a little attitude when he was telling me not to be too close to the tables. Thank god it wasnt me who did that though, i was on the floor at the beginning of his set. He was my last year's favourite and this year's too. wasnt too happy again about him not taking it.

The shit he did on last year's semi-finals with those crunk beats was bananas!
