It is CRIMINAL that we dont have a seperate discussion thread on this album. It is the most original refreshing work I have heard ALL year. There. I Said it.
I know were talking about Slaughterhouse at the time and now BP3 & OB4CL2. All very good albums but none of that stuff is truely out of the box innovation groundbreaking stuff (not that it always has to be)
THIS is the album that really pushes creativity and expands hip hop in a positive direction. Wisdom. Knowledge. Truth. Understanding.

I know. It gets better everytime I listen to it. Actually listening to it now after 3 days of BP3 and OB4CL2 and its that much more refreshing. Can an album sound better and better everytime you listen to it?

okay, let me stop playing Devil's Advocate, lets critically talk about it. someone please explain to me why ABSTRACT IS ALWAYS seen as INGENUITY?

i bumped Quasimoto cos it was new, abstract and had nice beats, and cos it was one man doing alladat, its abstract nature fell away for me and i appreciated the INGENUITY...so yeah, why is MOS' isht a potential "best drop for 09" ?

Big words man. I try to shy away from absolute grand statements like those.
I will say this: Its is the most enjoyable avant-garde loosely hip hop work I have heard since Madvilliany.
Lots of artists try push the envelope (see: Electric Circus/ 808's and Heartbreak etc) and end up making less than enjoyable music.
The Ecstatic is GOOD MUSIC.

ha ha i see what you mean. i can't help it when it comes to this joint. i don't mean that it's better than everything released in the 2000's, though. just that it stands as distinctly different from anything - in spirit and in sound - i've (personally) heard in a post-nineties hip hop album.

dig the Madvillainy comparison. brings it home.
