Bad cover Canibus

As the leading authority on games and comics on AG I find this cover incredibly ugly, this is coming from someone who read everything by rob liefeld

I'm not arguing with y'all ladies. The Canibus cover really is dope. The art style is tight, its inspired by a favourite comic book artist of mine and a certain video game artist from the 90's. See I know this shit because I really do read comic books, I also draw comic book characters and kick a** at it, I also own a collection of comic books that comic book heads would love to have, plus I really do own copies of God Of War, God Of War II and God Of War Chains Of Olympus(So I can play it where ever I roll). I don't look up the images on Google and end up playing myself by posting concept art instead of the actual cover. I don't even think you guys have an eye for that sought of thing anyway coz, you see Cratos slaying a 3 headed dragon, I see a dope plot (what the picture is saying) but an okay art style(how it looks and feels).

Having been a designer for quite a few years and having a design degree, I think I know a little about design though. Obviously not as much as you, cos you have a large comic collection.

I actually own all the dune books and if this is an attempt at recreating their art, it is a horrible one indeed.

Then again, what do I know, my 500+ comic and graphic novel collection is probably not as cool as yours and you know about art.

Just remember though, just because you can recognise what he was trying to do, doesn't mean he did a good job at it. It just means it could be a really shitty attempt at being cool.

Canibus' shit has a manga/ western style made popular by Bengus, a capcom artist from the 90's and Joe Madureira who just dropped a killer game called Darksiders(notice the fat,square like fingers? - cla**ic Capcom and The exaggerated body parts and pose- typical manga) , but I'm sure you already knew that since you read comic books right?
This is why I'm not arguing with y'all. I'm actually telling you that I LIKE THE COVER AND THAT I, MEANING ME, THINK ITS f***IN SICK. You can't argue a preference people, especially from someone who really studies that kind of shit. You guys clearly do not have an eye for that sought of shit so don't play yourselves by claiming to read comic books. Owning one or two graphic novels doesn't make you an art expert neither ladies, practice does. I do that alot and collect alot, so since I know and understand the time and patience it takes to come up with something as hardcore, sophisticated and thorough as the said cover, you telling me what you think, has as much impact as your opinions on kung fu to a bhudist monk. as abstract as it can be claimed tobe, as metaphoric as it is claimed to be, this cover is just plain whack!
color co-ordination is not on. this is too cyber space ih that is str up old skul.
i don't get why the light is shining on his background. i also hate this cover as dude don't seem to grow and come up with new and fresh concepts(he can still be on that cyber bull ish) but make it fresh.

Okay, let's start with the font used.

Even a first year design student will tell you that you don't use a black typeface on a black background, even if you are gonna use a cheesy photoshop drop glow around it. In fact, one should never use the glow feature in photoshop for anything. Ever. (I remember telling child the same thing when he thought he was a designer).

Besides being barely legible, that font is ugly as f*** and doesn't go with any of the other elements.

Secondly, the shattered gla** effect looks like it was done by a total photoshop amateur. I haven't touched my photoshop for anything but doing x-rays in more than a year, but even I could have done that better.

Third, the designer obviously has no clue of the concept of focal points. The chains seem to come out of nowhere and don't connect to anything else in the design.

The purple and red mist doesn't fit in anywhere either. In fact, none of the elements combine with anything else, which makes it look like a piece of shit mess. Like all the elements were combined in using MS Paint.

The canibus logo on his chest looks so out of place, like it was added as an afterthought.


You can tell the person who did this is a design Noob who probably did it all in photoshop and doesn't realise that there is software like Illustrator.
