... i'm sorry to say, but i am in accord with the MDC on this one but not fully though. the lancaster house agreement was flawed and really screwed zimbabwe in foresight. bob didn't stand a chance, what with all the money that britain were wangling out of the coffers of the IMF and the World Bank to aid in the reconstruction of a country they had done well to screw. i mean zimbabwe was no different from a prostitute - take the money and continue being screwed in the hopes that that man doing the screwing will marry you. when the money dried up what with the less conservative party taking over in britain, bob had reason to believe that the labour party would champion his cause but that didn't happen. the lancaster house agreement become redundant - there was a call for hasty land reforms which as per the lancaster house agreement were to be put on hold and done slowly in return of monetary a**istance. for 25 years bob has been in power, and since the shit has hit the ceiling nobody blames the flawed agreement for the shit in zimbabwe - we all blame bob, who is liable for a portion of the blame...

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE ZIMBABWE!?! well far from being happy is their independence. :cry:

...but if they see reason to celebrate, who am i to argue - enjoy your day ZIMBABWE!!

At least we should honor those who fought for that independance. We all still got a long way to go.

Today southern Africa and the world follows the developments in Zimbabwe closely because a lot of countries have similar problems(land distribution, sovereignity, market oppurtunity(along racial lines)) but do not know how to start to tackle them. Eventually they are just swept under the rug and pretend that they are solved.
Not saying which side is wrong or right today but we will continue to learn important lessons from that pioneering country just as the day those women took up arms and fought back. It might have been a "flawed" victory but surely even her most oppresive neighbours felt the winds of change that day.

yeah them zimbos won the all the soccer matches they played this side over the past wknd, thru to the semi finals of COSFA tournament, i didn't even know zimbos knew how to kick, coz surely they wudda kicked bob out by now...
