I'm an Ol' Fruity Looper. There were just some things 'bout it...
FL isn't EXACTLY a sequencer.
What it does come down to is the way it handles clipping (when your peaks are hitting over the 0dB maximum), some sequencers just digitally clip, some compress hard with a high ratio, (limiting)
Fruityloops was designed from the ground up to be fun, and fast.
Fruityloops can help you get your samples, VSTis, and melody down, and add FX with automation in minutes. Before you run out of ideas and flow.
Fruity comes with toddler nappies of soundpacks which are really aimed at those who were amuzed at ejay. I hate those synthz, But hey master Sytrus and shit and you might like it. On FL the shit takes to much work to get it to sound right. Cop FL 5, whichever way.. Get a descent Sampler VST or DXi or whatever and It's fine. FLStudio has no aliasing at all when rendered in sinc-depth-256, but I would have prefered it if I set the parameters for each Sampler. It 99% fully automatable & It's not really good for wave editing.
Idealy for the FL Cats. Rewire Reason into FL and into Ableton or Sequencer .....
Now that would be a fine combo with the best of all worlds.
But like I said there's too much tweaking and distortion added or you will add before the final premaster, and believe you me. Some audiophilez will clearly feel hearing disorders when they listen to fruity trackz.
But Hey, It does not matter if you got a $10 piece of software suite and piss out bangers.
Some would feel a progression to this hierarchy.. below.
From FL Studio To Reason To A MPC
It's like sound enginmeering , Anything goes
