My man Klinikal just bought himself a Roland Sp-606....

and MY GOD...IT IS JUST-SO-f***ING-TIGHT

Hammered around on it for 4 hours non stop last night... got 12 pads... works alot like an mpc... but also got these AMAZING effects (sum ppl buy it just for effect), that you can play around with live using this sensor measuring distance to your hand.... so basically by waving your hand up and down u can do some tight shit... its so much fun.

Especially tight for live-performance. He's gonna be using it tommorrow night at a Hip-hop gig (I'm gonna be playin back to back with him)

ZULA BAR on long street (EX THE LOUNGE)

Dj's:
HAMMA
KLINIKAL
E20
QUAKE
AK47
NASTIE ED
DANK
LIVER

on FOUR turntables... going back to back..
DONT MISS THIS - GONNA BE TIGHT

SUNDAY - 1st MAY

Hey Ed, shameless self-promotion of gigs?

U know I'm just playing witcha.Anyways, that Roland sounds nice man.Speaking of which, that Edirol Orchestral is a Roland product and no wonder its so darn tight.Btw, got a q for u.If u load it up as VST in Acid, how do u correct delay in sound triggering after pressing a key on the keyboard, if u midi control the VST?I mean, when we tried it at HIPE's, there was a delay in the sound coming out after pressing the key.Like a few split seconds, that kinda throws u off.But when trying it in FL, not probs, perfectly in sync. Can u explain this of got a remedy perhaps?Do lemme know.

Also, the sounds are madd tight in that thang thang man.U can create so much niceness with it.If u got vision, own man, the endless possibilities bro.Its crazy. Its one of the best I've seen. There's another VST out there thats supposed one of the tightest piano plugins around. Its name begins with an "S".Cant get to it now.

Dont know bout the piano plug-in...

anyway.. the other issue.

I generally dont use acid for VST plug-ins (other than effects n shit). Generally prefer cubase. BUT sounds to me like the problem lies in the sound driver settings. Goto Tools -> preferences -> Audio -> Audio device type, and make sure that its using the right sound driver (use the same one as the settings in fruityloops...seeing that that one seems to be faster).

Maybe his latency is just set too high...if he's already using the right driver.... Check the playback buffering fader in the same menu as above and set the latency to as low as possible without the track strugglin to keep up when you play it back.

Hope it helps.

Getting some tight new shit today from Klinikal,
Reason 3
Acid 5
Sound Forge 8
Absynth 3
And a whole bunch of tight new VST effects n instruments

Latah ma man

It was my first encouter too that's why I got so excited. I've only spent 1 hour with it so any detailed questions should be directed to the more knowledgeable cats(Nyambz, Phil, Ed) or people who have actually ownwd them.

Yeah, I think we all agree: they are freakin expensive!

The MPC400 is huge, it looks like a computer already.

have you seen this: MPD16
Quote

The days of programming drum sequences via a keyboard are gone forever. 16 MPC-spec pressure-and-velocity sensitive drum pads generate Note-On velocity when tapped. In Full-Level mode, the MPD16 produces data with velocity value of 127, regardless of the velocity of the pad tapped and in 16-Level mode it allows you to generate the note velocity in 16 steps with 16 pads. The active pad (note number) is the last pad played just before the 16-Level key was pressed. The Bank key switches between banks 1 and 2 allowing access to 2 separate banks of sounds. The Active key enables the fader which outputs MIDI control changes. The various parameter settings, such as MIDI Note a**ign, MIDI Channel, MIDI Control Change, etc. can be a**igned from the computer via USB.

zzounds.com

^^ using this with computer software such as FL Studio and Reason you can get that "mpc feeling" while working with on beats. But although its a quater of the MPC1000, its still not that cheap actually.

Hey Ed, will relay this inof to HIPE.Thanx for that.Hope it helps.

As for the new software, sounds very nice.Soundforge 8 out already?Whoa, wonder what niceness that one has.I know HIPE's got Acid 5 but he cant run it on his system.98 doesnt allow it.

Hey Fah, thats a nice one man.I know the FL STudio 5 has an FPC and FPD that are modelled on the MPC and MPD-16.Supposed real tight.I got FL5 but havent dabbled in it yet.Dont ask why.Not one to jump onto new software that kwikly.Just my nature.Usually move on a bit late and then explore it to the fullest.Or try to.

Anyways, will get around to it sometime or the other.Just need that free moment.
