Introducing DJ 279…

DJ 279 a.k.a. ‘Numbers’ is one of the most influential people in Hip-Hop/Urban Music in the UK. He is an exceptional talent and ambassador of Hip-Hop with many strings to his bow. As a DJ he is constantly in demand – at home and abroad. Requests for his services are regularly received from Scotland, Slovenia, Belgium, Denmark, Ireland, Croatia, France, Holland, Cyprus, Germany and Greece, whilst still spinning at most of the major hip hop events; in 2001 he Deejayed at Xzibit (Subterania), Guru’s Jazzamatazz (Brixton Academy) Missy Elliott (Brixton Academy),Afu ra (Subterania), 112 (Forum), Lil Kim (Forum) Essential Festival (Hackney Marshes), Xzibit (Astoria), Ja Rule (Astoria). 279 followed this in 2002 doing more big parties including DJ Premier, Fabolous, Ludicris, Xzibit, and Foxy Brown.

Recognised as an authority on Hip-Hop in the UK, 279 is a strategic contributor to key Industry events. He has had a significant input in events organised for some of Hip-Hop’s legends such as Public Enemy, Snoop Dogg, Rakim and EPMD.

Presenter & Producer for: FRIDAY NITE FLAVAS, Choice 96.9FM / 107.1 Fri 9pm – Midnight Aimed at Hip Hop connoisseurs, ‘Friday Nite Flavas’ is now described as a ‘lifeline’ among those who consider themselves to be on the ‘underground’ of an already underground scene’ (MOBO Magazine, September 1999) featuring only the most credible exclusives and the most sought after interviews.In May 2001 Choice FM made the decision to network Friday Nite Flavas thus making the show the first to be available on both their FM frequencies as well as all of their digital outputs, the show can know be heard in Leeds, Bristol, Newcastle and Manchester Friday Nite Flavas has been voted second by the readers of the UK’s first Hip-Hop magazine – Hip Hop Connection a staggering six consecutive times beating stations with 4 times his audience reach – which is no mean feat!

Numberman Productions presents FLAVA OF DA MONTH INDUSTRY SHOWCASES & PARTIES

Established in 1992 it has earned the accolade of the most successful monthly club nights promoting the lifestyle and culture that is Hip-Hop. The success of ‘Flava Of Da Month’ led to rapid expansion of the production company, and its remit. Numberman Productions created and presented a series of showcases featuring a variety of US artists performing alongside some of the UK’s finest home- grown talent. The British Hip-Hop scene finally got the rare chance to witness live performances from the likes of Big Daddy Kane, The Arsonists, RZA, Pharcyde, Genius, Mad Skillz, Ras Kass, Fabolous, Masta Ace, Canibus, Sticky Fingaz (Onyx) and The Beatnuts as well as legendary DJ’s such as Cash Money (DMC Champion 88), Mister Cee (Hot 97 NYC) and super producer DJ Premier. Flava Of Da Month is held regularly at The Subterania Acklam Road, London W10 or Mean Fiddler Charing Cross Road WC2.
