Smooth Bee Biography

10 October 2004 No Comment

Smooth Bee was born and raised in the “boogie down” Bronx. Smooth is well-known throughout the world as one of hip hop’s most valued artists for his smoothed out vocal style and worldly lyrics. Smooth’s voyage into legendary stardom began while recording and touring with Bobby Brown as a background singer, rapper and dancer.

Smooth Bee was a pioneer in the development of fusing hip hop with R&B and other musical genres in a fashion that would remain “street level, underground appreciated and radio friendly.” This sound paved the way for the success of Nice & Smooth – the duo of Smooth Bee and Greg Nice. Nice & Smooth’s numerous hits include: “Hip Hop Junkies,” “Sometimes I Rhyme Slow,” “How To Flow,” “Cake & Eat It Too,” “Old To The New,” “Return Of The Hip Hop Freaks” and “Dwyck” with Gang Starr. Smooth Bee crooned with Jo Jo Hailey (Jodeci/K-Ci & Jo Jo) for the song “Cheri,” which is featured on Nice & Smooth’s JEWEL OF THE NILE album. The beautiful ballad instantly became a favorite on R&B radio and among critics.

Smooth Bee joined Ice T, Ice Cube, KAM, Mobb Deep, DA Smart, Insane, Shorty, Chuck D, the RZA and Killah Priest on the single “Where Ya At?” on the acclaimed all-star album, ONE MILLION STRONG. Smooth also contributed his own song, “Mirror, Mirror,” featuring Val Young. He then sang the chorus of “We Are Hip Hop,” produced by KRS-One, to promote awareness of the Temple of Hip Hop.

While on a promotional visit to Japan, Smooth Bee recorded songs for the compilation albums: INFINITE RYVIOUS, SYNCHRONICITY 2nd SESSION: FUTURE SHOCK and UNITED NATIONS. Smooth’s recordings were featured on these popular Asian releases among songs by various other elite artists. Smooth recently returned to Japan to record new tracks with some of the hottest producers for his forthcoming highly anticipated solo debut album.

Smooth Bee’s album is expected to follow a string of single releases including a remix of the airy pop-flavored “Girl He Don’t Love You.” Smooth has previewed “Girl He Don’t Love You” before an enthusiastic live audience on BET’s popular hit countdown program, 106 & Park, and on other premium cable programs and radio networks.

Smooth Bee has appeared in the motion pictures STRICTLY BUSINESS and WHO’S THE MAN. Currently, Smooth is reviewing proposals and scripts for several film and television projects…look out soon for Smooth Bee on the “silver screen!”

Still true of the days when Smooth Bee dreamt of spreading his vision through entertainment, he continues to create innovative music and promote his immense talent worldwide. Smooth Bee is, and will always be, a true “hip hop junkie!!!”
