ILLECT Recordings is proud to announce the signing of L.A. Symphony member Flynn to a solo album contract with the new Northwest based hip-hop label. The new album “In Like Flynn” will hit stores later this spring, during May 2004. Guest appearance by fellow members of his crew, L.A. Symphony, join Flynn on his third solo effort. Are you in?

Skwatta Kamp, South Africa’s foremost hip hop group are set to represent South Africa at the10 Years of Celebration of Freedom in Dakar, Senegal on May 7th and 8th 2004. The group which shot to fame as pioneers of South African hip hop, have been widely recognized as one of the founding members of the genre in South Africa. The first local hip hop act to sign with a major record label and the first local Hip Hop album, Mkhukhu Funkshen, to hit gold in South Africa, signifies the fact this group is destined for bigger things to come.

First SL Magazine, now SA Rock Digest picks up on this hiphop crew’s buzz. Is everyone else sleeping? The true representation of DIY (doing it yourself) The Innovators have gone from strength to strength in the last couple of months. The release of the their compilation “RU Project” produced entirely by themselves, sparked a buzz that got them just over 30 000 votes for the “Silvertab Harmabe DIY CD“, and a publishing deal with African Dope in Cape Town.

The first permanent South African Music Fair launches at Mercury, 43 De Villiers Street, Zonnebloem, Cape Town on Thursday 6th May from 7pm. From then on The South African Music Fair will take place on the 1st Thursday of each month. The SA Music Fair is a rare opportunity for performers and merchandisers to sell their products to waiting public at slightly discounted prices. Stalls will be available for hire at a nominal fee of R10. A resident DJ will play music that is available for sale on the night, and stalls can pass on their products to the DJ for exposure.
