The Militia! Cats from Orange Farm (O.F).  It’s been a long time coming but heads don’t have to wait any longer. The Militia is releasing an album soon, as in March 2004. Initially planned to be released mid-2003, the timing wasn’t right. But 2004 is the year that’s gonna see the rise of the tide in the local hip hop industry. Rated highly by critics who heard it pre-release, calling it the loud voice of the street, a breath of fresh air in S.A hip hop…dealing with social issues especially from the street perspective we gonna see the other dimension of local hip hop. Building a name for themselves on the underground scene way back before (and in) the days of YFM’s Rap Activity Jam, Militia has always been dropping gems. We’re familiar with the phrase “keeping it real” now we gonna see and hear what it really means. That’s what hip hop needs right now no doubt!
For more info on the Militia and the album and how u can get the material before March contact Fiyasko on 073 452 7972.

In general, the conception of a coloured man is based on numerous and inadequate generalizations. So, what does it mean to live as a coloured in South Africa? It means an exposure to a social bigotry that is underpinned by ignorance and insecurities. This is clearly seen by a set of invisible, sometimes visible, coloured commandments. For a long while these coloured commandments dictated the development of social structures and interaction between a people having no tangible identity and self-worth. Sadly, the ignorance, insecurity, lack of an identity and self-worth still persist in South Africa today. Living with discrimination in your heart.

A nascent tourist industry is developing around the sites where slaves once were sold. The tour operators claim that when theses sites are shown to tourists they are supposed to serve as a reminder of our brutal oppressive history. Yet the truth is that these institutions, by themselves, are not of much value. Especially when all the countries that participated and gained economic advantage from the slave trade barely acknowledge their roles.

CeStyle has been called a legend of hip-hop, a monster in cyphers and freestyles, an innovative producer and the most slept on emcee of 2003. The truth is being told, the people are responding, and word on the street says CeStyle is on Fire! CeStyle is reaching tens of thousands of listeners on the internet each week. However, his absence in “some” hip-hop literature is a mystery to many music critics. He is one of the most talented self-produced artists in the game. His metaphoric rhymes reveal a mysterious history that’s as rich and interesting as the sound of his music.
